The request for protection concerns death threats against members of the Honduran Black Fraternal Organization (Organización Fraternal Negra Hondureña, OFRANEH), based in the community of Vallecito, municipality of Limón in the department of Colon. The incidents take place within in a context of organized crime and are related to the litigation of the Punta Piedra Case of the Garífuna Community before the inter-American system. OFRANEH acts as representative of the victims in this case.

The Inter-American Court rejected the request because it considered that it did not meet the formal requirements established by the American Convention.
