The request for protection concerns Luis Roberto Romero Rivera and is related to his performance as Director of the Special Investigations Unit of the Human Rights Ombudsman, an agency charged with carrying out investigations to resolve cases of disappearances during the internal armed conflict in Guatemala.

The Inter-American Court did not adopt the measures because it considered that the State of Guatemala was implementing measures to protect the life and integrity of Mr. Romero Rivera.
