Two requests for protection are reported; both concern witnesses who testified before the Inter-American Court in the Painel Blanca case. First, the measures protected Oscar Vásquez, as well as some members of his family, who was illegally arrested and threatened to be killed. In 2001, the protection measures sought to protect Manuel de Jesús González Chinchilla, who had suffered an attack involving bullet shots.
