The request for protection refers to the rights to life, personal integrity, family, and identity of two girls of the Taromenane indigenous community, who have been held as a result of a confrontation of their community with members of the Waorani people. The Inter-American Court rejected the petition because it considered the measures already taken by the State to protect the rights of the two girls as sufficient.
