49 112(57) Confinement conditions at Casa de Reposo Guararapes (Guararapes Rest Home) were inhuman and degrading; as the Hospital did not have a doctor’s office for a long time, medical attention was frequently provided to patients at the reception and even in the presence of visitors and, more often than not, no proper medication was available.
