Case- Summary
The facts of the case refer to the tapping and illegal monitoring of the telephone lines of members of the organizations ADECON and COANA, by the Military Police of the Paraná State between April and June 1999. The case also addresses the subsequent divulgence of the obtained telephone conversations and the denial of justice and lack of adequate reparation for these events.
The IA Court developed standards regarding the right to privacy, honor and reputation, in relation to the tapping, recording and distribution of telephone conversations. Furthermore, this analysis was related to the right to freedom of association. The Court also made reference to what has been called the “federal clause”
