The request for protection in favor of Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian origin -documented and undocumented- who are subject to the jurisdiction of the Dominican Republic cocnern deportations or massive illegal expulsions carried out in 1999. The purpose of the measures was to order the Dominican Republic to refrain from carrying out deportations or expulsions and to allow the immediate return of those victims to Dominican territory, as well as to protect those who testified before the Inter-American Court as witnesses to these incidents.
