INTER-AMERICAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS CASE OF SALES PIMENTA V. BRAZIL JUDGMENT OF AUGUST 30, 2023 (Interpretation of the Judgment on Preliminary Objections, Merits, Reparations and Costs) In the case of Sales Pimenta v. Brazil, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (hereinafter “the Inter-American Court” or “the Court”), composed of the following judges: ∗ Ricardo C. Pérez Manrique, President, Eduardo Ferrer Mac-Gregor Poisot, Vice President, Humberto Antonio Sierra Porto, Nancy Hernández López, Verónica Gómez, and Patricia Pérez Goldberg; also present, Romina I. Sijniensky, Deputy Registrar, pursuant to Article 67 of the American Convention on Human Rights (hereinafter also “the American Convention” or “the Convention”) and Article 68 of the Rules of Procedure of the Court (hereinafter “the Rules of Procedure”), renders its decision on the request for interpretation of the Judgment on Merits, Reparations and Costs delivered by the Court in this case on June 30, 2022, (hereinafter also “the judgment”). The request was filed on January 9, 2023, by the victims’ representatives (hereinafter “the representatives”). ∗ Judge Rodrigo Mudrovitsch, a Brazilian national, did not take part in the processing, deliberation and signing of the Judgment on Preliminary Objections, Merits, Reparations and Costs in this case, nor in its interpretation, pursuant to Articles 19(1) and 19(2) of the Court’s Rules of Procedure.
