One of the clandestine detention centers was “Automotives Orletti,” located in an abandoned garage in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which served as a torture center and was operated by death squadrons and units composed of Uruguayan and Argentine military officials. 45 54. In these type of detention centers, the majority of the cases entailed the following fates for the detainees: a) their release, b) the legalization of their detention, or c) their death. while in captivity in those detention centers, in particular in Automotives Orletti, these persons deprived illegally of their freedom were subjected systematically to extortion methods, torture, and inhumane and degrading treatment.” 46 55.
