complainant in the investigation.80 On April 9, 1996, the Uruguayan consul in Buenos Aires asked the judge in the case for information about the death of Acosta Martínez.81 During the investigation, the testimony of several witnesses offered by the plaintiff was taken,82 and a series of statements were incorporated and/or taken ex officio.83 61. On April 25, 1996, the investigating judge moved to close the file on the preliminary investigation, concluding that there was no crime.84 Following the autopsy in Uruguay (supra paragraph 56), the complainant requested the reopening of the investigation,85 which was ordered on May 12, 1998.86 As part of this process, a new forensic report was ordered by a 80 Cf.
