Yean y Bosico
Case- Summary
The facts of the case refer to the deprivation of nationality of two Dominican children of Haitian origin, by officials at the Civil Registry who refused to register their birth certificates.
The IA Court established standards regarding the right to nationality in regards to arbitrary State actions to deprive victims, in a discriminatory fashion, of this right. Furthermore it took into consideration the victims status as minors and the situation of vulnerability to which they were exposed. Similarly, the IA Court made reference to the violation of the right to recognise legal personality and the names of the children.
